I wanted to make a post so that buyers understand /know why we charge 45.00-50.00 for our buns.
Our Mini Lops are like family to us. Pets 1st and Breeder last. We spend a large amount of time with are buns. They are not outside, in a barn, shed or in a basement. They are in our house in the same rooms we are. (Near our kitchen and near our livingroom). We feel that it is very important that they are a part of our family. (*please note – we don’t have any issues with people keeping their buns in sheds, barns etc.)
We keep our cages and everything around them super clean. Every 3 days we clean our cages some sooner if needed. When I say clean I mean clean, as in full wash down of cages every 3 days, bowl, bottles, resting pads, trays, litter boxes, etc…
- We treat our Adults with Sulmet Solution 1 x yearly for Coccidia to make sure they never get it and worm them as well. All our buns get pellets and pure Timothy Hay daily. We want our buns whether it is a kit or adult healthy as can be. They also get fresh veggies.
- Our buns are like family and we would do anything for them. We actually treat them like our kids!
So when we have litters of kits (aka baby buns), we also put a lot of time and energy into them as well.
We handle them from day 1 and every single day after that. We DON’T have litter to have litter and sell them to make money. We have our kids handle them so that they are use to child (VERY IMPORTANT I THINK!)
We breed bunnies because we 1 enjoy having little buns, watching them grow, the connection we get with buyers, they joy that families get when they pick up their new babies.
So the $45-50.00 is because you get a very, very well socialized bun, the bun comes litter box trained, wormed, nails trimmed, I spend time typing up a 20 page Care Packet myself of stuff that I have learned or came a crossed (not something that I printed off a website). I send them home with a small bag of food: (I even mix in Calf Manna and Oats that are not included with the normal feed it get), I also type up their pedigree and even took the time to personally make a Birth Cert. for them as well, I also personally go outside and trim off Apple and Pear branches from our own trees for them. Getting a very well socialized bun, all the time and energy I have put in and getting all the items with the bun is a good price!
If you were to go to a pet store you would pay about the same price, but you won’t get anything with the bunny. Also I sell our buns at 8 weeks NO SOONER. We do that because if you were to sell any sooner than that it isn’t healthy for the bun. Baby Bunnies are weans around 6 -7 weeks.
If you go to a Pet Store they are selling them and I have seen it 1st hand (4-5 weeks old! NOT OKAY).
They are more than likely not wormed. I don’t worm until they are 7 ½ - 8 weeks. You have no clue the background on a Pet Store bunny. With our buns you have all the information about your bun and you know where it is coming from, 1st hand sense I’m the owner/seller. I can tell you everything about the bun and its personality.
I’m firm on our prices because of this. If you want a free or cheap bun you will have to go else were. Don’t expect it to be healthy, very socialized and think that you are going to get its back ground (the true background).
If you want a very well socialized bun that is, healthy, friendly, great with kids and adults, litter box trained and etc. Please contact me and I’m willing to talk and answer any question you might have :)
